I saw what happened. I knew Ralph would make it. He almost didn't, getting harassed and chased around by Jack's tribe and all. Well, all I do now is hope. I mean, I see what happens, but I don't hear any of it. Did Jack and Ralph make up yet? Have the twins forgiven Jack? All I have seen is a boat. A boat with some man in a suit came to pick them up. On their way home, nobody moved a muscle. Not even a cry or a sneeze, but complete stillness of the bodies of the young boys.
I've seen a couple of other boys join Piggy and I up here. I figure they are the ones Ralph killed in his rage against the tribe. I don't blame Ralph for what he did. You might say it was concupiscence. A sudden feeling of hate and fear and self-defense all fell upon him at once, like a cloud ate too much at a Chinese buffet and got too heavy for the sky to hold up there anymore, so it just fell. In consideration of these feelings, hate, fear, and self-defense, there was nothing more he could've done. He had to protect himself and the only way to do that was to try to kill the other savages on the island. Though I know the island was a terrible experience for all of us, I also know that we all learned some valuable lesson from it. One (in Ralph's case) might be: Never nominate yourself leader and expect everyone will listen and agree all the time. Another (in Jack's case) might be: Always consider others' ideas of how to survive by getting important resources instead of becoming obsessed with killing pigs, eating their meat, and sticking the head on sticks in the ground. Lastly, in my case: Never try to intervine in the matters of men. In other words, Jack and Ralph were men. They fought, established themselves as each other's leader, and didn't take advice from anybody else. Trying to get in the middle of that circle might end up killing you. (literally)
Until next time....
SIMON.
